Full-Time SYSTEM DIR MARKETING AND PUBLIC RELATIONS
The System Director of Marketing and Public Relations leads the South Texas
Health System (STHS) marketing team comprised of two (2) Marketing Managers, a
Digital Media Specialist, and the System Manager of Strategic Relations, in all
efforts including strategy, planning, implementation, communications, public
relations and community engagement activities, working in close collaboration
with Corporate and with local leadership.
Leveraging the UHS internal Agency team, the System Director will establish and
execute a clearly defined marketing and communications strategy in a manner
that supports consistent business growth and attainment of volume targets while
enhancing the System s local brand equity and awareness; the Marketing
Managers will then be tasked to implement the strategies for their respective
entities while coordinating with each other. As such, while each facility/
entity within STHS may have a unique program or message at times, the
overarching need is to create both a synergy and a consistency across all
entities within STHS so as to convey a consistent brand, message and image. The
messaging and strategies implemented must convey differentiation in the local
market, uncovering and putting a spotlight on the highly memorable anecdotes
(patient testimonials, key staff, amazing doctors, first-of-their-kind
procedures, generous community outreach, etc.), leveraging local endorsement
opportunities, leading the charge on the next horizon of announcements on
development, service line enhancements, partnerships, etc.
The System Director will be responsible for ensuring all standard materials are
updated on a consistent basis, including the websites, collateral, internal
communications and the annual Community Profile.
This role will implement Corporate-wide initiatives locally, and will
conversely contribute content in support of company-wide programs. Executes PR/
media relations locally through, and with, the System Manager of Strategic
Relations and with input/guidance of the Corporate Public Relations department;
the actual reporter outreach/orchestration may primarily be the role of the
System Manager of Strategic Relations while the PR planning, release drafts,
spokesperson outreach, etc. remain the purview of the System Director of
Marketing and Public Relations with input/guidance from the Marketing Managers.
Plans and develops engaging social media content for the System and the
respective hospitals; supports online reputation management efforts.
Maintains supervisory oversight of all STHS community outreach, sponsorships/
donations, publications, signature hospital and System events, video
production, and photography projects. Remains available to assist the facility
CEOs with internal communications, in coordination with HR, related to matters
such as, but not limited to, Town Hall meetings, CEO messages, promoting to
employees what is promoted externally, etc.
The System Director will develop, coordinate, direct and administer policies
and procedures in accordance with federal, state and local standards, including
compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect and maintain patient privacy.
The System Director of Marketing and Public Relations reports to the Regional
Vice President, works with and on behalf of the facility CEOs, and functionally
coordinates with the Corporate PR and Agency teams at UHS.
- Must have a least 5 years experience in healthcare marketing or as a
marketing profession in a complex field like healthcare.

Bachelor in Marketing or related field required, Masters preferred
