We are looking for an Accounting Manager for our direct client in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of accounting management experience and working in a fast paced environment. Our client is in growth mode and they are looking for an Accounting Manager that can adapt to constant change.


  • Produce recurring financial reports
  • Managers reporting package by 15th of each month
  • Consolidated and departmental financial statements by 15th of each month
  • Annual budgets and financial models
  • Job schedules and WIP reports
  • Financial and accounting presentations
  • Tax returns – payroll, sales tax, federal, etc…
  • Ad hoc reports as requested by stakeholders and key managers
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of all reporting
  • Oversee all daily financial and accounting operations
  • Accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), payroll, job cost, etc.
  • Manage all accounting and financial personnel as assigned
  • Ensure accounting hardware and software systems are active and regularly updated
  • Develop, implement and manage financial and accounting systems, policies and procedures
  • Mentor, train and develop direct reports and other employees as required on financial and accounting management systems, policies and procedures
  • Develop documented desk procedures and performance metrics for direct reports
  • Develop tools and systems that provide key performance indicators (KPIs) for management
  • Analyze financial information to identify “red flags”
  • Develop, maintain and beat budgets, goals or other objectives as assigned
  • Cash flow planning, management and forecasting
  • Recurring reconciliations to ensure accuracy
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key financial, accounting, legal and insurance partners and organizations
  • Prepare information needed for and analyze information provided by key relationships for audits, reviews, renewals, financing, suits, etc.
  • Join and participate in industry related organizations and associations for continuing education
  • Manage risk and ensure continuous risk-mitigation: Internal controls, Tax, GAAP, legal and other regulatory compliance
  • Review customer agreements and contracts
  • Review credit applications
  • Review sub-contract agreements with vendors, sub-contractors, independent contractors, etc.
  • Ensure financial covenants and other financial and accounting goals are met each month
  • Conduct due-diligence on new business development opportunities
  • Manage legal affairs, lawsuits, disputes and other claims
  • Manage company owned assets including depreciation and amortization schedules
  • Provide analytics, fact based recommendations and strategic thinking to meet company goals and objectives
  • Manage real estate owned by company or its affiliates
  • Other duties as may be assigned


  • College Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. MBA or CPA desired but not mandatory
  • Minimum of 8 years of work-related skill, knowledge, and experience, minimum of 2 years as a manager
  • Experience in electrical sub-contracting/contracting and construction is highly desirable
  • Highly proficient in using ComputerEase
  • In depth knowledge of construction accounting including Progress Billings and Percent Complete
  • In depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Federal, State, and Local tax laws
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
  • Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process
  • Proficiency in Accounting Software- ComputerEase and Concur preferred but not required
  • Above average knowledge of business software including MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access; Internet browsing to find information
